WAC Gaza Highlights Women’s Struggles Amid War

Muwatinat – Dec 31, 2024

Speaking on the Muwatinat platform by Wattan Media Network and the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development, WAC Director Amal Syam described 2024 as a “black year” for Gaza. She stressed that women and children account for nearly 70% of casualties, with over 12,000 women killed, 12,000 injured, and more than 10,000 widowed since October 7.

Syam underlined the disproportionate impact of displacement, hunger, and collapsing health care on women, particularly widows, pregnant women, cancer patients, and women with disabilities. Despite unbearable hardship, women continue to bear the burden of family survival, embodying resilience and endurance under genocide and forced displacement.
