Gaza – October 2022
The Women’s Affairs Center (WAC) in Gaza inaugurated the “Our Women’s Products Bazaar”, bringing together civil society organizations, women entrepreneurs, media representatives, and diverse community members. The bazaar featured a variety of sections, including Palestinian embroidery and handicrafts, woodwork, fashion design and tailoring, food products, cosmetics, and a dedicated “green corner.”
Amal Syam, WAC Director, emphasized that economic empowerment is the gateway to women’s political and social empowerment, noting that the Center has been equipping women with technical, administrative, and financial training to strengthen their participation in the labor market and ensure equality in opportunities and wages.
During the event, Syam also announced the launch of the “Our Women’s Products” online store, a digital platform designed to market women’s products locally and internationally, and to overcome the challenges of e-marketing faced by women entrepreneurs.
Reem Al-Nierab, WAC’s Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator, highlighted that the bazaar marks the beginning of a broader e-platform to support women’s resilience, noting the inclusion of a “green corner” promoting green economy initiatives, as well as a modern showcase of Palestinian traditional dresses.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the professional and unique organization of the bazaar, which offered a valuable opportunity to promote their products inside and outside Gaza.
